Method
Piecing steps
Step 1: Make the center: sew background corner squares to all four corners of the medium square with stitch-and-flip seams. Trim to 6 1/2".
Step 2: Make four flying geese with background goose triangles and dark sky triangles; trim each to 6 1/2" by 3 1/2".
Step 3: Sew geese to the top and bottom of the center, points facing out.
Step 4: Add background corner squares to the ends of the remaining two geese and sew them to the sides.
Step 5: Join the rows with a 1/4-inch seam allowance, matching each seam intersection. Press and check the unfinished block measures 12 1/2" square.
